The only dating site targeted for people in Recovery!
Site launches for people in recovery from addictions & compulsions to find their MATCH!

Yes-there are dating sites with one little area to check that says “I don’t drink”. But who is going to come right out and say “I’m an alcoholic” or “I’m a recovering drug addict” or even “I’m ok now, but in the past I’ve had  (“fill in the blank”) issues” on all those other sites?  -Well, the answer is NOT MANY.  In fact, for millions in Recovery or entering Recovery, the question is “When do I tell HIM or HER about my past problem and how will they take it?”

On RecoveryMatchfor2.com people don’t have to be afraid to be THEMSELVES! People can meet as on other dating sites, but because RecoveryMatchfor2 is specialized, they may form relationships which empower them to not only stay on the path of Recovery – RMF2 hopes to help them find their Match!

This site is right on target for today’s societal issues.  Stress, lifestyle choices, family of origin issues and belief systems which have been imprinted upon us and passed on through families and the social structure is producing a record amount of addictive behavior.  This also includes other self destructive/compulsive behavior, such as gambling, over working, perfectionism, power/control, relationship addicts, sabotaging relationships, sensory addictions, tobacco, eating /not eating, or any obsessive/repetitive behavior causing someone’s life not to work. These are referred to as “alternative compulsions”.

Founded by Robin E. Vess-O’Neil the site was formed after Robin experienced a life changing trauma and decided that she wanted to help other people stay on the path to Recovery. Robin had been in “positive self help” classes since age 12 when her Mother took her to a Psycho Cybernetics class (based on a book by author Maxwell Maltz) at age 12.  This early experience coupled with the leadership of Jack Boland (deceased) a speaker/teacher in Warren Michigan, led to Robin attending an advanced, month long session about 15 years ago,  much of the information based on Jack Boland’s principles.  With a new type of thinking she is now sharing in her own way. Before that, she attended other “traditional” treatment programs which did not succeed in the change she sought. The difference in this experience and others is that the entire group was “closed” -meaning unlike traditional treatment centers, the entire group begins and ends together.  Using new ideas, people can also find out WHY they do what they do, and HOW to possibly change it. It has been discovered that drinking, drugging or acting out in some way is only about 15% of the problem -as in the old “tip of the iceberg” idea.  And that all these destructive types of behavior are closely related, regardless of how they manifest themselves in a person’s life. People can then CHANGE the behavior and begin to realize they now have the possibility to live as fully functioning, happy human beings.  This is the type of thought and help RecoveryMatchfor2.com and its “info” site, RecoveryMeansLife.com is promoting.

THE CONTROVERSY: “Traditional” programs have about a 5% success rate according to published statistics, treat only substance addiction. This does not include “alternative compulsions”.  Tradition says “just don’t drink or drug – no matter what” – this doesn’t teach people how to live without going back to their primary addictive/compulsive behavior or if they don’t do that, they might even manifest the original problem in a different way. Once people leave the “safety” of a unit, they often go back to the old behavior. Both new sites are reaching out with a different message to a wider audience that is growing day by day.

THE BOTTOM LINE: People in Recovery no longer have to be afraid to be themselves!  They can meet others like themselves –who are those that most understand them and finally find the lifelong support they have been looking for. People are looking for belonging and togetherness in these tough times.  For the millions in Recovery, RecoveryMatchfor2.com is THE on line place to be for dating, help, discussions, forums and related information.
